Glossary
Every word, in plain English
New to design apps, AI video or running a business online? Here’s what each word means, with no jargon.
The basics
- Workspace
- Your business inside DonForge. Your files, brand, team, leads and credits all live in one workspace. You can have more than one, like one for your trade business and one for your music.
- File
- Anything you make: a design, a document, a PDF, a photo edit. Every file saves itself as you work and keeps a history you can go back to.
- Project
- A folder that keeps related files together, like everything for one job, one client or one album.
- Template
- A ready-made starting point. Pick one, swap in your words, photos and colors, and it’s yours. DonForge has thousands, sorted by industry.
- Credits
- What AI work costs inside DonForge. Writing, pictures, videos and songs each use some credits. Your plan includes credits every month, and you can top up any time.
- Wallet
- Where you see your credits, top up, and track what you spent them on.
- Simple mode / Pro mode
- Simple mode shows the everyday tools only. Pro mode shows every tool. Switch any time from your account menu.
- Trades / Entertainment
- A switch at the top of the menu. Trades puts quotes, bids and yard signs up front. Entertainment puts music, press kits and release packs up front. Nothing is ever hidden; it only changes the order.
- Pinned
- Tools you starred so they sit at the very top of the menu. Tap the star next to any tool to pin or unpin it.
- Undo / History
- Undo brings back what you just changed or deleted. History lists earlier versions of a file or website so you can restore one.
Making things
- Export
- Saving a copy of your work outside DonForge, like a PNG picture, a PDF or a Word file, to post, print or send.
- Watermark
- A small DonForge mark on exports from the Free plan. Paid plans export clean.
- Brand kit
- Your logo, colors and fonts saved once, so every new design, website and video uses them automatically.
- Mockup
- Your design shown on a real-looking object, like a T-shirt, a truck, a phone or a yard sign, so you can see it before you print.
- Landing page
- A one-page website for one offer or event, usually with a form that sends you leads.
- Link in bio
- One small page with all your links, for the single link spot on Instagram or TikTok.
- Lead magnet
- Something free you give away, like a checklist, guide or quiz, in exchange for someone’s email or phone number.
- E-signature
- Signing a document on a phone or computer instead of on paper. DonForge records who signed, when and from where, and gives you a completion certificate.
- Code Studio
- Describe a small web page or tool in plain words and the AI builds it. You can preview it, change it by chatting, and publish it.
Video & music
- Render
- The step where DonForge actually makes your video or song from your plan. Short previews render fast and cheap; the final render takes longer and is full quality.
- Preview
- A quick, lower-quality version of a video so you can check it before paying for the final render.
- Scene / Shot
- One piece of a video, like a single camera angle. Videos are built from a list of shots, and only the shots you change get made again.
- Stems
- The separate parts of a song, like vocals, drums and bass, so they can be mixed or remixed on their own.
- Mastering
- The final polish on a song that makes it loud, clear and even on every speaker and streaming app.
- EPK (electronic press kit)
- An artist’s online resume: bio, photos, music, videos, stats and a booking form, all on one shareable page.
- Release pack
- Everything you need to drop a song in one go: cover art, vertical clips, a teaser, a lyric video and captions.
- Split sheet
- A short agreement that says who owns what percent of a song. Everyone signs it so money is split fairly later.
- Beat lease
- Permission to use a producer’s beat under set terms, like how many streams or copies, without buying it outright.
Customers & money
- Lead
- A person who might become a customer: someone who filled out your form, called, or asked for a quote. They all land in Leads.
- Quote / Estimate
- The price you offer for a job before it starts. Clients can approve and sign it online.
- Invoice
- The bill you send when a job is done. Clients can pay it online with a card.
- Vendor Finder
- Finds property managers and other companies that hire contractors like you, with tap-to-call and follow-up reminders.
- Bid Finder
- Finds public and government jobs that match what you do and lets you know when new ones are posted.
- AI receptionist
- Answers texts for your business number, collects the customer’s details and passes the lead to you.
- Client portal
- A private page for one client where they can see files, approve work and sign, without making an account.
- Done For You
- Pay the DonForge team to make it for you instead of doing it yourself.
Your brand & team
- White label
- For agencies: your clients use DonForge under your name, logo, colors and web address instead of DonForge’s.
- Agency
- A business that runs marketing for other businesses. Agencies can manage many client brands from one account.
- Seat
- One person on your team with their own login. Plans include a number of seats.
- Roles (owner, admin, editor, viewer)
- What each team member is allowed to do. Owners and admins manage everything, editors make things, viewers can only look.
- Custom domain
- Your own web address, like yourbusiness.com, used for the websites you build in DonForge.
- Streak
- The number of days in a row you made something. It’s just for fun, and it never scolds you for a day off.
